Lone, aka one half of Nottingham beat sculptors Kids In Tracksuits, just put out his debut album under the new (to us anyway) moniker on Dealmaker Records. Named after a mystical, unspoilt haven it’s all a glaze of candescent wooziness with punching drums that constantly bump hard through the gleam of melody.

Fusing together genres can be an interesting process; for instance, rock and rap gave us nu metal whilst guitars and rave (when combined with an idiot swagger and neon clothing) gave us six months we wish we could forget in the form of neu rave. The Deathstep team however are doing something completely different and brilliant with their brave fusion.

Vessels - Boon Dock Saints

Vessels are big and loud yet quiet and melodic and because of this we like them. A lot. They'd probably be filed somewhere between the post rock of Godspeed! You Black Emperor and Explosions In The Sky if you categorised your records by genre (but who the hell does that?). Their debut album 'White Fields And Open Devices' is out in August so your Wordmaster took it on himself to impose a few e-questions on guitarist/bassist Martin Teff.
