North London’s Upper Street isn’t usually the first place you think of when Carnival is mentioned; in fact it’s probably quite far down a Family Fortunes style list. Though if you are a denizen of Islington or nearby borough, getting the hell out of Notting Hill and getting the hell into somewhere a little closer to crawl home from is definitely preferable to navigating a labyrinth of night buses and potential fracas. Everyone’s (yes we mean EVERYONE’S) favourite tangerine coloured party machines are doing just that and throwing a shindig closer to home at the new Albert & Pearl (or the old Medicine Bar). Musical entertainment on the night comes from the magic of Zero 7, the ‘nicest man in dubstep’ Markle, Late Night Tales resident Sean Brosnan, hip hop boyo The Last Skeptik, the many headed Ruffhousing crew and 3BF main man Chief.
