| 3 Bar Fire Awards 2007 |
Well, the 3 Bar Fire minions have tallied the votes and the results are finally in, with no further delay the winners of the inaugural 3 Bar Fire Awards 2007 are... Album: Battles - Mirrored A big favourite as the angular noisniks delivered a strong long player. Track: LCD Soundsystem – Someone Great This was the pick of the tracks from LCD's second and more cohesive album. Artist/Band: Radiohead The media shy Radiohead pulled off the marketing coup of the year with their free, and brilliant, In Rainbows. Radio: Maryanne Hobbes (Radio 1) More suggestive than a M&S advert, the late night experimental show covered all that was happening outside the norm with passion and dedication. Magazine: Plan B Standing their ground in a world where indie is increasingly associated with haircuts rather than values, Plan B is top dog. Website: The Hype Machine Naughty but nice. A music fan's paradise. DJ: Sinden Breaking into the collective consciousness and sounding like he's having a bloody good time doing it. Clubnight: Fabric Live Heavyweight and leftfield line ups still drawing in the crowds, the London superclub is going from strength to strength. Gig: Beirut @ Koko Zach Condon's travelling troupe packed Koko to the rafters. Festival: Bestival The best festival? I guess it did what it said. Biggest Media Whore: Amy Winehouse Unanimous victor. Debatable for 2008 nomination. Most Ridiculous Fashion Icon: Peaches Geldof Another big vote, famous for nothing. Ubiquitous Scenester: Noel Fielding Here, there and everywhere. And over there too. Utter Waste Of Time: T4 June Sarpong. Steve Jones. Miquita Oliver. Alex Zane. Jo Whiley on Mobile Unsigned. Nuff said. All Time Greatest Ever: Mike Reid We had a lot of convincing arguments for this category but this vote for big Frank brought a tear to our eyes. ...and on to 2008. |
